I’ve written a lot this week about the low-power Kinetis L microcontroller from Freescale, a low-power, mixed-signal IC design now shipping in alpha silicon. I have just found this new Freescale video, which was probably shot at this week’s Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) in San Antonio, and starring Freescale Senior Systems Engineer Eduardo Montañez.
The 3-minute video shows microcontrollers from Freescale, Microchip, TI, and Renesas running a program against each other, powered by capacitor banks charged by a hand-cranked generator (nice touch). The competition is to see which microcontroller runs the longest on a capacitor charge. Although the winner was never in doubt (it is after all a Freescale video), I think it’s an interesting demo and worth spending three minutes to watch.
